Frequently Asked Questions

DeepWave FAQS

There is a light receptive gland in the middle of your head called the pineal gland (Buddhists call it the third eye). When it releases neuropeptides and neurotransmitters, we see colour and shapes. It’s a sign that the happy compassionate, wise part of the brain is switching on, and flight and flight is switching off.

Sometimes good things take time; DeepWave light sessions are no different. You should notice changes after each session, even if they are short-lived. Several sessions are needed to retrain your brain for a more impactful change. If the session type isn’t working or resonating for you, we can change it whilst still focusing on your wellness outcomes.

If you are working towards almost any specific wellness or performance goals, it’s entirely possible that Brainwave Entrainment might assist you. However, there is never any certainty that it will work in your particular case until you have tried it. It’s a bit like a specific exercise program or diet; no matter how good it is, there will always be someone who doesn’t get the same benefits others do. If you want to discuss the likelihood of Brainwave Entrainment working in your unique case, we are always available to talk.

Wellness plans are created to fit the person, as we are all built differently with individual life experiences. Protocol (treatment plan) should and will vary accordingly. However, there are guidelines we follow if we are targeting specific outcomes, which include a standard approach to treatment frequency and duration with the variation coming from the session type recommended/provided.

Outcome plans will typically consist of 7 to 10 sessions over five weeks. The duration can vary depending on your availability.

Experience shows that 10 sessions is typically enough time to retrain the brain to function at a different baseline. Whilst 10 sessions is a good template, ultimately, we are all unique with unique needs. Like going to the gym, you need several sessions to support sustained change. Further courses of treatment are recommended every 2 to 3 months to help maintain the benefits and keep re-shifting the baseline.

Changes to the brain typically last anywhere from 2 to 6 months. At which point, we would recommend a repeat pattern of treatment (7 to 10 sessions over five weeks). Experience has shown that your brain will be back functioning after a couple of sessions as it was after your initial treatment. The remaining sessions in your treatment plan support more significant growth and reset the brain at a different level.

Some sessions have been designed to go with specific music that adds to the immersive experience for you; these tracks have been designed to target a particular brain frequency that matches the light pulses. However, there are sessions where you are more than welcome to use your music.

If you want your brain to change how it functions, it’s important to understand the law of ‘neuroplasticity’. When we train muscle, the brain and body change when we perform repetitions of a specific task. Although you may see changes in just a small handful of sessions, retraining the brain to function differently usually takes more time to achieve sustained change.

Brainwave Entrainment is not a comprehensive treatment for any mental or physical disorder. Brainwave Entrainment is, however, a supportive tool that can be combined with other ways to manage and heal the issues we struggle with. If your symptoms reduce enough with Brainwave Entrainment that you want to reduce your reliance on a particular medication, then that’s a conversation to have with the professionals whom you consult concerning your specific issues.

Whether you relax deeply or fall asleep does not matter; the benefit and entrainment will still occur.

The effects from the session can be immediate. Depending on the session type, you may feel more relaxed and drift off to sleep or into a ‘sleep’ type state. You may also notice your breathing relax, and some of those busy thoughts disappear. The benefits, however, don’t stop the minute the session does; you are likely to continue to see the effects long into the day and overnight. You may find yourself tucked up into bed a little earlier than usual and have had a more rested sleep.

If you have a more creative session, you could feel more alert, process information easier and make decisions quicker. These types of effects can be noticed from the minute the session ends to 12/24 hours later.

With all sessions, the immediate effects will diminish over time, but the improvement/entrainment of the brain will stay longer than you or your body may notice.

Outcome plans will typically consist of 7 to 10 sessions over five weeks. The duration can vary depending on your availability.

You have light receptive cells in your brain’s parietal lobe, septum, pineal organs and hypothalamus. Light-based Brainwave Entrainment sessions are thought to primarily affect these brain areas. It is also believed that parts of the brain (particularly those that modulate fight or flight and pain) become ‘quieter’ during sessions. Each session is designed to target a specific or several specific brainwave frequencies.

Ensure you stay well hydrated and rested and listen to your body as it will react differently depending on the session given. The first few sessions can leave a percentage of people feeling quite tired or in a bit of an emotional release (both really good signs). Many people choose to time their first few sessions carefully to ensure they don’t have to jump straight into a meeting. Others find that they benefit from sessions during busy times and are more switched on afterwards.
